Pirarucu

Large relief flakes and a low-impact production process make this product an excellence in the exotic leather scene.

The Pirarucu or Arapaima Gigas is a giant fish, ( the largest in fresh water) native to the Brazilian Amazon.Thousands of native families in the Amazon region use it as a staple of their diet and source of income-they protect it as a valuable resource. By using only regularly hunted hides we help ensure conservation of the species and the environment, as well as generate income for the forest’s native populations. This eco-pragmatic approach also governs the tannery’s internal processes: in fact, no chemicals or heavy metals were used in the tanning process. This choice allows the water used in the process to even be used to irrigate neighboring crops.

the tanning of Pirarucu’s hides is free of heavy metals, after long experience and many trials, we have developed a mix of tanning agents that produce minimal environmental impact.

We thus generate a perfect combination of fashion, originality, quality and sustainable luxury.
